Ceramic Artists and their Communities
Our goal is to introduce you to ceramic artists, their communities, and their lifestyles throughout Japan. Focusing on ceramic artists gives us a chance to go many places that we might not otherwise, from big cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, to little villages like Mashiko and the coastal city of Hagi. Throughout our trips, we’re looking to find something authentic, and have a chance to meet and interact with real people and hear about their lives and experiences.
Architecture, Nature, and Landscape
Japan offers an extreme contrast between it’s urban cities and sprawl, to it’s almost untouched natural wildernesses, mountains, and islands.
Meals in Context: Ceramics and their relationship with food and drinks
Handmade ceramics are used for food and drinks in Japan perhaps more than anywhere country in the world. Tastes, flavors, smells, aromas, textures are highlighted by the special, unique objects that they’re served on and in.
